[ST] Speedvision

Hey folks,
Just thought I would toss in my two cents on the Speedvision thread.
A couple of my riding buddies work for Speedvision (in front of the cameras)
and they have both stated that there are changes coming...but at this point
it remains to be worked out what will change. F1 is already gone as ESPN/ABC
have picked it up for next year (sucks). The folks at Speedvision believe
the reason Fox didn't give them the green light to re-new the contract is
the money will go into the "new and improved" NASCAR coverage (yuck).
However, they are optimistic that the bike stuff will make it through
relatively clean. The statement was made that if you took all of the repeat
programming and replaced it with NASCAR programming, you would end up with
the "new look" of speedvision. There will be time slotting changes (back to
staying up late or recording to see races). It is believed that eventually
they will spin the NASCAR stuff off into a separate network (another channel
to add to the FOX banner).....after they see if the interest/revenue is
there...essentially we are going to be guinea pigs (bummer). I'll let the
list know when the boys (Brian Drebber & Dave Sadowski) have "real news".

Later,
