Re: [ST] trip report--Talimena Byway

  On The Talamena ride.

It is a great ride . I have been riding that road for almost 17 yrs and have
lost track on how many time I have been across it. I have had all of the 7
bikes I have owned on the drive...and a few others as well.. I have not been
across it in some time but do have many memories. Like the time I rode
across the drive at night to get a good view on the Hale-Bopp comet..Or the
one of the other night rides when the forest service was burning about 22
miles of it....talk about seeing how it snaked across the mountain.Really
awesome scene..or the other night ride ,in the rain, when I rode to the one
of the first overlooks (from the OK side).Kept hearing the sound of small
puddles of water that I was running through.....only to find out that they
were small frogs....thousands of small frogs. The bike was one hell of a
mess.....baked frogs on pipes .......well lets just say it took forever to
remove that mess....

Hockings Hills area was on my route to this years eastern rallye but I did
not make it ...hope to next year.
