Sturgis was Re: [ST] K & N Filter

Lisa,

I've been very busy the last month or so and was working at home this week
and am only now getting around to email. 500+ emails between hotmail and my
work address in 5 days, sheesh...

Anyway, thanks for the K&N info, my guess was that since no one has ever
mentioned an additional tune, that the current off-road tune that I have
will be the same tune I use if I get a K&N.

Sturgis, is a freak show. I'm not sure what else to say about it.

I had just purchased the RS(on 5Aug) and quickly put 500 miles on it so I
could change the break-in oil before we left(on 8Aug) and had 2300 miles on
it by the time I got home(on 12Aug), not bad for the first week.

The RS is awesome. I couldn't and still can't believe how much more
comfortable this bike is, more so than any other bike I've ever ridden.

I used to think I needed 3 bikes; a standard (My TBS) a solo tourer( the RS)
and a big 2up tourer(like a K1200LT). Now I'm down to needing only 2. The
RS is so much more comfortable and more fun to ride than my TBS that I no
longer have any desire to ride the TBS. Now the TBS feels like the front
tire has about a 36" wheel instead of a 17" wheel.

Back to Sturgis, did I mention that it's a freak show?

Actually Shon and I went out there because we were told that Triumph was
going to have a RAT gathering in Belle Fourche. We didn't get to Belle
Fourche until Thursday the 9th. We checked in at the Chamber of Commerce to
see what was happening and were told "Oh, you should have been here on
Sunday, we had a bbq and you missed it."

The Saturday front page headlines of the Belle Fourche "Bee" proclaims in
big bold font "Triumph Club converges on Belle Fourche". The pictures and
caption take up 1/2 of the front page. There are 2 pictures with the
following captions underneath them:

1st picture has a tiger and a trophy surrounded by 6 people.

A small but nice group gathered for the Chamber-sponsored biker's barbecue
on Sunday. Officials from Triumph are discussing the possibility of having
their 100th anniversary reunion in the area in 2002 with Belle Fourche
Chamber of Commerce administration and board members. Gathered for the
barbecue were (from left to right): Bob Nysveen, Triumph dealer from Fargo,
N.D.; Teresa Schanzenbach, Chamber Executive Director; Lynn Hammerstorm,
Chamber Vice-President; Alan Bruinsma, Chamber President; Wayne Murphy,
Triumph Area Manager from Colorado; and Gary Galleher, Western Regional
Triumph Manager from Newman, Ga.

2nd picture has a 2001 tiger and a 1969 t-150.

The old and new together. Wayne Murphy couldn't resist the opportunity to
get his 2001 Tiger model Triumph in a picture with the 1969 T-150.

We thank the Triumph Club for their visit this week to Belle Fourche, making
friends, having fun and contributing to the community during their stay and
we all hope to see them next year!

End of article:

3 out-of-towner's with Triumph motorcycles is called a convergence in South
Dakota, so be careful. 4 would be a swarm.

The number of motorcyles out in the Black Hills for the week was down from
previous years, but there were still too many people on the roads to really
ride hard. We did get up early a couple of mornings and went up and down
Spearfish Canyon 5 or 6 times before the slow moving Harley's converged on
the Canyon. I love that word converge.

We demo rode a couple of Yamaha's, All of the other makes were booked up. No
Triumph presence at all.

To be honest, it was kinda depressing to be in motorcycle mecca and not have
a Triumph presence of any kind.

Shon had his chain replaced by the dealer in Rapid City and while we waited
not 1 other Triumph showed up. There were all kinds of Harley's that were
there. The dealer was offering oil changes for v-twins and there were plenty
of those.

Later,
Prairie Dawg
01 RS
Y2KTBS - until it sells
03 full dresser, shaft driven,2 liter Triumph????

There shouldn't be. Go out and enjoy :-)! BTW, how was Sturgis? Did I
miss your ride report?
