Similar to the advice I was given. I was told to make the first hundred
miles a series of shorter rides to let the engine go through a number of
full warm-up cool-down cycles. After that don't abuse the engine but
don't worry about exceeding the break-in RPM schedule. Before the first
oil change I was also told "you should be riding it like you stole it".

The experience of the mechanic and the information he'd brought home
from a Triumph training session indicated that the engines were not
being fully broken in for many thousands of miles -- sometimes as much
as 20,000 miles -- because people were being too gentle and the early
switch to fully synthetic oil.

I don't know if this is true; it was just what was told to me.

I'm now (finally) aproaching 10,000 miles and this bike just keeps
getting better and better! There are no problems except the bikes I ride
have this tendency to want to lay down on the job. ;-(
