Mort,
I'm happy that you and your ST are alive. I am ecstatic to say that I do
not personally know anyone that was lost.

If you were working at 180 Maiden Lane(AKA the Continental Insurance
Building) I am quite familiar with it and its views. I did a job on the
roof and top 2 floors a few years ago. I can't possibly imagine how it
felt to witness the atrocities from so close, knowing that safety was 40
floors below.

I don't think that everyone fully realizes the size of WTC. The pictures
and videos don't do credit to how massive they were. I have found that
true with many places I've been, such as the Grand Canyon, Mount
Rushmore and other places that we so commonly see in photographs. I have
stood on the plaza at WTC and looked skyward. Their size was unimaginable.

I've seen the footage of the rubble at the footbridge over West St.
Having ridden under it several times it is mind boggling to see that
pile of rubble.

I don't know about the rest of the country but here in northern NJ we
are being inundated with news from NYC. We are not getting news from the
rest of the country. The newspapers help a little. CNN just scratches
the surface. I have only heard by word of mouth about the riots in
Patterson, NJ and on Long Island. Does anyone know of a decent online
news source that is covering the rest of the country?

Steve,

Yup, I work at 180 Maiden Lane. And you're right, it sounds like a cliche,
but the size of the towers, and the scale of destruction just doesn't come
through on a TV screen.

What riots??
