Re: [ST] Are we being taken for granted?

I'll go out on a limb here. It seems the British have a different idea about
the life span of their machinery than other parts of the world. Japanese
manufactures of cars and motorcycles change models every 4 years. In the US
we used to make the vehicles fall apart so you would be forced to buy new ones.

British cars and motorcycle models seem to stay in production much longer. I
don't know all the reasons for this but I do know several of the advantages.
If you make a car like the MGB, Jaguar XJR or whatever for a long period of
time there are a lot of them on the road. Then you have a market to make
parts for for a much longer period of time. Last I looked you can still get
brand new body shells for the MGB as well as a ton of other parts.

All this is not to say they didn't make small upgrades to these models over
their production run but in comparison to other makers the changes were minor.

I am probably over generalizing a bit.

Thoughts?

My old sig was about Vaxen and VMS but I can't even figure out
the name of the company that owns them anymore.
