[ST] HD-why oh why? (NO-ST)

I just got off the phone w/a freind I grew up with.
He, like myself, has been riding HD's for some time, I
havnt owned one for a while, he still rides one, and a
BMW. We were recalling how "some" of us were telling
the owners of "jap" bikes to "BUY AMERICAN, BUY
AMERICAN,yadda yadda" and NOW that many of them did,
we call them posers, wanna be's and RUB's. I didnt
often say that because I owned several different makes
over the years, including "jap" bikes. but I cant
figure this out. Where is the logic here? Now that I
am considering the purchase of an early full dresser
HD as a project complete and running for $2k, Im
hearing "DONT buy HD, do you wanna be a poser or a
wanna be? I really hope I can put the money together
to buy this thing!! it has full fairing, top and side
boxes, CB and am fm cassette (like it could be heard).
A toy indeed, It needs paint and leaks oil. I would
never sell my ST to buy it!!!

even between us Triumph owners and the Honda people,
is it possable to own 2 makes and be socially
acceptable.. not that I give a crap who thinks what of
what I choose to ride on any given day.. I am very
curious how far such a rivalry could go, in fun or
otherwise. I love the diversity, sometimes I have days
where the ST is absolutly spot on perfect for me,
other days I wake up thinking I could easily enjoy an
S&S based cruiser or even an full touring bike.

There is also a hard tail chopper sitting there. no
engine, used to be S&S. Its a rolling chassis..
couldnt help but immagine it w/a 955 tripple in it....
