[ST] RS ride height

Last week I dropped my pride and joy for the second time in a year at
paddling-about speeds.

Truth is, it's a little tall for me (at 5'6").

But since in all other respects the RS is the most perfect bike I've ever
come across, I most definitely do not want to part with it.

So I need ideas. I've had a few I would appreciate comments on, and any new
ideas are most welcome. Bear in mid though that I'm in the UK, so there's no
using pointing me at US specialists for this or that.

The thoughts I've had are:

- - To lower the seat (either repadding or an after-market). The seat at
present is very comfy even on a long run, but also seems pretty thin, so I'm
worried that taking any more padding out will make it painful. Anyone tried?
Do Corbin or others make a lower seat?

- - Thicker soled boots. My Alpine Stars are warm and waterproof but have thin
and rather slippery soles. Any recommendations out there for a good
thicker-soled winter boot?

- - Lower the suspension ...
- - - On previous bikes including a VFR I have been able to raise the forks a
little in the yokes. Has anyone done this on the RS? At what point does the
mudguard start bashing into the radiator over bumps? How did it affect
handling?
- - - Soften the suspension. It's on the firm side now so will in any case go
back to mid settings, but I don't want to go too soft, as I do like my bikes
to handle! What's the best compromise?
- - Fit a shorter rear shock. I saw a lowered Orange RS this summer but
couldn't work out how, and the owner wasn't around. It looked stock at the
front but about 1" lower at the rear, so I wondered if it had say an ST
shock, which is 1" shorter. Does anyone know if an ST shock fits an RS? Any
modifications needed? Are there other shorter alternative shocks? Again,
what happens to the handling and ground clearance?

Any ideas or comments most welcome, thanks.
