Re: [ST] Re: Trailer Tie Downs

Glad someone else spoke up in this Canyon Dancer lovefest.....

I used to use Canyon dancers w/ my enclosed trailer and race bikes but they
kept causing problems (like pulling/tearing the grips). Like John, I went
back to soft ties (also using 'em on the lower triple clamp). .........Might
not be too rough on grips if only used occasionally (my negative experience
involved hauling race bikes every weekend).

And speaking of wheel chocks - I use the removable Pingels in my trailer.
But sometimes I've been in situations where a chock wasn't available. For
these, I use an extra tie down secured from the left side anchor point and
pass through front wheel wrapping around a couple times and then to right
side anchor point and tightened. Don't have to worry about it going any
where. Wrapping it arouind rim/tire a couple of times and tightening
prevents side to side wheel movement - as well as front to back.
