Yeah, that sounds like the trick!  Wondering if using nylon bolt/nuts with
rubber washers will do the trick?  Should be pretty easy to cut the nylon
bolt to size with a Dremel is what I've thinking, so that the nut's height
is all that extends above/below, guessing that there is a little room in
the boot for such addition.
