Re: [ST] U-turn diameter



Looks like some good info has already been posted back to you Michael on
techniques, most all of which I employ too.  But having just completed an
MSF ERC course Sunday, the question of revs and slipping the clutch came
up.  They were instructing us to control the speed with the rear brake
instead of slipping the clutch.  I asked specifically if the reving of the
engine helped the bike stability due to the gyroscopic effect and got a
"no" from both instructors.  I've always felt that it did help make the
bike feel more balanced, so it's something I'll probably continue to do
unless playing around in the parking lot proves otherwise.

I have found trail braking helps our T's in slow speed manuevers alot,
something I learned on my previous mount, a 95 Trophy 3.  I also learned
not to use the front brake when paddling in turns as I had one of those
slow/can't hold it up problems in the driveway as a result of grabbing the
front while backing and turning.  Damn.  

Can't agree enough with the "look where you want to go", and keep your
eyes up.
