RE: [ST] Hard bags (Panniers) worth it?

Hello Scott;

I purchased my '02 ST just on 2 months ago - and like you, I debated whether
or not the hard bags were worth the money - in my case, A$ 1900 extra.

My previous bike was a Trophy 900 which had the hard bags as standard - and
I found that I did not use them too often - they were off the bike 90% of
the time.

So this time, I purchased the Triumph soft bags - and took them to the
Triumph Australia Centenary Rally - a trip of over 5000 kilometres - and
found them to be very very good. They held a lot of gear, and despite
riding through some very inclement weather, they proved to be waterproof
once the covers had been put on. They were easy to mount on an off every
morning as well.

YMMV, but I reckon it depends on how much use you would get out of the hard
bags.

Cheers

Subject: [ST] Hard bags (Panniers) worth it?

After owning my 01 ST for 4 days now, I've ordered the seat cowl, the CF
slip on and the tank bag. But at $1000USD I'm holding off on the hard bags
until a long trip. My question to all you owners: did you get the hard
bags for your bike right away, or did some of you purchase softbags instead?
If you did get the hard bags, how do you like them (aka - are they worth a
thousand bucks..)?

Also, while I've got your attention, I noticed on my second ride that the
fuel injection buzzer stayed on for about 5-10 minutes into the ride. My
dealer said this may go away during break in but that there also was an
update to fix it. Is this a common thing? (sorry if this is in the archives
already).

Cheers,

Scott
