[ST] NEP Throttle Lock

I just put a NEP throttle lock on the RS, and it seems to work
perfectly. I used the model "CC3", which is supposed to work on dual
cable Hondas, and is available for about $20. The only real
modification is to remove the throttle housing from the clip on, and
relocate it back about 20 degrees, so that the cable exits the housing
just below the starter switch. The rubber boot will not go back on
because of the proximity of the switch housing. I removed it and used
silicone sealer to seal where the cable enters the housing, although
this is probably not necessary. The tab on the throttle lock will now
rest against the underside of the throttle housing, as to prevent it
from rotating off throttle. The only thing that remains is to make a
small bracket, about 1" by 1/4" to go on the other side of the tab, to
prevent the lock from turning on throttle. Drill a hole in one end, and
install it under the lower screw that holds the switch housing together.
The other end rests against the tab of the throttle lock. I used
aluminum, because I had some lying around, but you could use just about
anything... even a bent piece of coat hanger, if that was all you had to
work with.
None of these modifications is permanent, and you can return the bike
to original in about 20 minutes. Total install time was less than an
hour, including fabrication. One note: If you still have the original
grips on the bike, you may need to trim away some of the grip with a
razor blade to make enough room between the throttle housing and the
grip. This will be invisible after installation. I find this setup
very easy to use, as it is more intuitive than the throttle meister (and
cheaper, too!). If you are more interested in form than function, then
you will probably be more satisfied with the throttle meister. If,
however, you are more interested in function than form, and are willing
and able to make the above mentioned modifications, you will be happy
with the NEP.
