[ST] brake pad retraction

Another thing that I'm wondering is what the heck pushes the pads back when
their one the bike??? When you pump the brakes and the pads touch, you
literally must pry them apart. Why don't they just lock onto the disk when
you pull the lever?

Those nasty O-rings that pull them back too far after awhile, are what pulls
them back a little when they are set up right. the pucks kinda roll out on
the O-rings, then when the brake pressure is released, the O-rings roll back
into their usual position. they should slide out occasionally to adjust for
wear, but they don't always, which is why you need to do the high pressure
grip on the lever occasionally.
I don't know what all you went through to fix your brakes since I've been
offline for a week or so, so I didn't get to read all the previous digests
all the way through, but the easy fix for the brake lever travel is just to
squeeze the hell outta the brake lever for a few seconds and repeat three or
four times. That will force the O-rings out where they should have already
moved to. It takes a minute or so to do this and it costs nothing! I think
Triumph must use a different master/slave cylinder ratio than other bikes
and there just isn't enough pressure applied to the pucks under normal
braking to reseat the O-rings
