RE: [ST] 12,000 mile check

Completely WRONG!

According to the Triumph handbook the valves should be adjusted for the
first time at the 12000 mile / 20000 km / 2 year service and then again at
24000 mile / 40000 km / 4 year service.  Some dealers do perform the valve
check at 6000 miles, but that does NOT correspond with what's written in the
handbook.
