[ST] You are now entering another dimension...

I was riding 2-up with my sister earlier today. I was
heading east on a fairly low-traffic street. I came
to a red light and made a complete stop in the left
turn lane. I was sitting there waiting to turn left
when a black VW Beetle heading north on the
cross-street decided to make a left turn onto my
street heading west.

I saw the cage and thought, "Hmmm, she's cutting the
corner kinda tight." I then realized that she was
going to f**king hit us. There was nothing I could do
but brace for impact as this crazy driver rammed the
left front of her car into the front of my bike. My
pillion was thrown off the back, I came off the side
and the bike went down on the left side, engine
running.

I picked up the bike (engine still running) without
thinking about it, then immediately hit the kill
switch as I realized if the crankcase breather let
engine oil into my airbox, I was letting the oil drain
into the intake when I picked it up.

Anyway, this lady gets out of her car and yells at me,
"What the hell are you doing?"

What the hell was **I** doing? I actually managed to
stay civil, which turned out just as well because the
police station was just down the block and a
motorcycle unit and a squad car were on the scene in
about one minute.

So, the ST's in the shop. The front fender, left-side
fairings, and left pannier are messed-up. Hopefully
the front-fork is okay. Hopefully, the engine didn't
get oil into the injectors and everything else since
the bike fell on its left-side. At least the
reporting officer (the motorcycle cop) reassured me
saying, "it's clearly not your fault in the least."

I still don't believe it really happened. It was so
surreal... Be careful out there.
