For anyone else interested in repair options, a friend of mine dropped my 
bike in a parking lot at about 0mph and scraped the left side fairing panel 
also.  The replacement from the dealer was in the neighborhood of $400+.  I 
don't remember if that included decal and/or heat shields ($40 for decal and 
at least $25 for heat shields).

I ended up having a guy repaint mine and put new decal on for $260 ($220 for 
paint and $40 for decal).  I got two quotes and they were both right at $220 
so I guess that's the going rate for MC repair in Houston.  The paint 
matched closely enough that no one but me will probably ever tell the 
difference.
