Re: [ST] Chain stretch question...

Since I got a variety of replies, both direct and to the List, some of which
conflicted, I thought I'd check again with AFAM, where the kit originated.
They said that a certain amount of apparent stretch was likely for a premium
quality X-ring chain and that I should readjust and see what happens. And
yes, the clamping bolt was correctly torqued down to 55Nm.

Playing with a spreadsheet, and assuming that my free play increased from
40mm to 55mm, I calculated that would be equivalent to a total apparent
stretch of slightly less than 3.5mm over the total length of the chain, or
somewhere around 13/10,000ths of an inch per link - which would sort of make
sense from what the AFAM guy said about the links "aligning" (read: slight
de-centering) when serious force is applied in one direction.

So I'll adjust it again and see what happens next...

Thanks for the replies.
