Tom,
I may be wrong but I thought that the laser speed detection devices operated
in the infrared spectrum (I think maybe1060 nm) , and infrared is not
visible, at least not to the naked eye.
Although I do agree with you that if a laser radar detector is obstructed by
a plastic or some other material which changes the angle the light goes in,
that it will affect the amount of light the sensor sees.
