[ST] Gas milage cont.

Ok, I followed virtually everybody's advice regarding my gas mileage
problem, and I thank you all for that advice.

1. I had a new tune downloaded and the CO checked and the mileage didn't
change from 30 MPG.

2. I took it back and the mechanic, and he did it again, and told me to use
87 octane for a while. After that I got 45 MPG and an increase in power.
YAHOO!

3. A week or two later I took it back to the same mechanic for an oil
change, heated grips, gen-mar raisers, throttle body alignment, the gas
filter changed, the air filter changed. He told me that the air filter was
wasted and that I would get even better than 45 MPG now.

THE RESULT? My gas mileage dropped back down to about 30 MPG, my power
dropped, and the bike kept revving for a few seconds after I shut the
throttle down!

4. I took it back, AGAIN. He said that a throttle body was sticking open
and that accounted for the bad gas mileage and the prolonged revving. He
fixed the throttle body and put it on the gameboy for a while. He then told
me to use one tank of 89 octane, and from then on to use 98 octane, which I
did. I'm still getting 30 MPG.

5. So, I had 45 MPG and lost it, and he doesn't seem to be able to get it
back. Why would I have increased MPG and power, while using 87 octane, and
then go straight downhill after a tune with higher octane gas? What the
#$%&* is going on?

Signed, VERY VERY CONFUSED, Val
