Unless you have the panniers installed and mounted, in which case you 
typically need to remove the LHS pannier to be able to get at the seat 
lock. (Of course, you can always relocate the lock a la Eric. Since I 
got a Dremel for Christmas I might consider doing that now.)

Yeah, it's a small step, but if you can avoid having to do it...
