RE: [ST] New Member

Welcome Wes. I can't speak about the RS but my '99 ST has a little over 50k
miles on it and I have to say it's held up to my abuses very well. I do a
lot of almost every type of riding. I "power tour" down the interstate to
get to events many hundreds of miles away from me. I commute the 15 miles
to work regularly. I chase sportbikes around twisties here in MO, and
around the Deal's Gap area. I've had a few minor issues, a cracked header
pipe(the design has been modified since to fix this from the factory, and
mine was replaced on warrantee), battery gave up this summer(would have
liked more time out of it), the OEM seat foam broke down around 18k(Sargent
seats fixed this for me), really rather minor things that were easily
remedied. The bike has only really let me down once when it refused to
start at all in OH. I attribute this to a freak ECU issue, after a fresh
download at my dealer it never disappointed again. Overall I believe
Triumph has come out with a very dependable package.

Hello all. I am considering trading in my 98 Thunderbird Sport for a 01
Sprint RS. I have gotten much information from the FAQ and list
archives. Many thanks to all who have contributed. I am already sold
on the looks and performance. The only thing that remains a mystery is
the long term reliability. I put a hell of a lot of miles on my bikes,
and need some reassurance that there will not be any future problems
with the RS. Any information from owners, especially those with high
mileage, would be highly apppreciated.
