Re: [ST] Sargent seat?

I am very happy with Sargents work. When I called in to ask a few questions
the guy I talked too walked me thru each and every entry on the order form,
making sure I was getting what I wanted, he was very helpful and
knowledgeable of how best to write it up. After they got my seat and order
form they called just to clarify one thing that I had hand written after
talking to their help guy, which was a nice touch. I didn't have them do
any changes to the shape as I was very happy with the stock shape, but I did
have them do a full "atomic foam" replacement for the driver seat. That
foam has held up very well over the past 25-30k miles I've ridden on it
since. They don't have an exchange program, or didn't 2 years ago, for the
ST/RS seat so you'll have to send your original, or at least a seat pan, to
them to get their work. Fortunately a kind gentleman from this very list
loaned me his OEM seat to use while I sent my original to Sargent. I had
them cover the driver section with their basket weave, but the rest of the
seat is stock appearing covering(I didn't ask if they reused the OEM cover,
I would assume they recover it with their own new covering). Honestly I
can't remember how much it cost. It was more than $100 and probably less
than $300. Turn around time, as I remember, was 3-5 weeks in late summer.
I will warn you they say the winter time is their busiest time, so expect
some extra time.

Hope this kind-of rambling explanation helps.

I've been considering an upgrade to my RS' seat, and wondered how was your
experience with Sargent. Happy? Did you buy a seat from them, or send yours
in for a new foam? New cover, or did they re-use the original? Lastly, how
much should I expect to pay and what was the turnaround time (assuming you
sent yours in)?

Thanks!
