[ST] Adjustable gear lever

For those that may be interested ...

There's was a product featurette in 23rd Jan MCN for an adjustable gear
lever (or shift lever for our American audience) made by NWS for the
T595/955. There was a small picture. It looked like the thing I'd been
looking for so I ordered one. It arrived a couple of days later and fits
just fine.

Basically it's almost the same as the Daytona single piece lever which I
know some have fitted. The difference is that at the foot end (i.e. not the
spline end) the rubber covered foot piece joins onto the lever via a 30mm
circular connection. The foot piece is mounted eccentrically so you can
slacken off the bolts and rotate the foot piece around the circumference -
This would be much clearer with a picture but I don't have access to a
scanner at the moment - Maybe someone else with access to MCN could scan in
the picture to help explain this.

Anyway the end result is that you can adjust the lever via the spline
connection as on the Daytona piece. However you can also move the foot piece
up and down by +/- 15mm and back and forwards by +/- 15mm with respect to
the footpeg.

I have size 11 feet so need a fair amount of clearance, so mine is adjusted
for maximum distance between the footpeg and the gear lever. This is about
11 cm, or about 1-2 cm less than the original ST, 3 part lever. I've since
spoken to NWS about it might be better to be 10mm shorter, and they said
that the next batch they make would be shorter.

Obviously the key benefit is much less slack in the gear shift and it works
really well.

Price was 34 GBP + VAT and postage - which equates 41 GBP total in the UK.

NWS web site is at :- http://www.n-w-s.com
Unfortunately the product is not yet shown on the website.
They were very helpful on the phone (I spoke to Bill) and he passed me
through to Simon the technician who had designed the part to ask some
technical questions.
