Brian,

As a matter of habit, whenever I replace a chain, I always give the
sprockets a real close look.  If they're the least bit worn, new ones go on.
Replacing one without the other usually invites trouble farther down the
road.

I was in Austin yesterday, getting ready to ride back to Ft. Worth
(about 220 miles), when I discovered my chain was way stretched.  So, I
bust out the handy adjusting tool and proceed to adjust--except, there's
nothing left to adjust.  It's backed out pretty much as far as it will
go.  Hrm.

I called Lonestar BMW/Triumph there and they were awesome and told me
to come on over and they'd squeeze me in.  They put on a new DID chain
(is $100 a good price, btw, just for the chain?), but didn't have any
sprockets in stock.  I needed to get back, so I just got the chain.

Now I'm wondering if I should order some new sprockets to go with it and
put them on myself.  I'm assuming worn sprockets are bad in some way,
but how?

Oh, and the bike just turned 14k miles, as far as how old the sprockets
are.  Also, assume I'm a dumbass and rode it for a long time with the
chain way too loose, in factoring how worn they are.  :(
