Re: [ST] Triumph Day at PIR

The 'spirited' parade laps were a blast (did anyone get any pics of the
grid?) and over with all too quickly. Which is why I also opted to pay the
extra $20 and get the "Taste of Racing". Yup, pay $20 and as long as you
have a helmet, boots, and gloves they let you on the track with the other
folks that paid, and while there were apparently some pace bikes, I started
towards the end of the 15 bike grid and never did see 'em. I plaid it
fairly conservative, especially in the corners and found it a great time to
focus on smooth braking, throttle, lean, and acceleration techniques. PIR
is a road course, not an oval, btw. The front stretch only saw me get to
125mph on the ST. Turn 1 comes at you pretty damn fast! The 'no passing
in the curves' rule went right out the window, too. Oh well.
I uploaded a couple of pics from the event. It was great to see such a wide
variety of Triumphs, including a beautifully restored '57.
And props to Rob and Janice and the folks from Cascade Moto Classics for the
hospitality.
Oh yeah, the actualy races were great to watch too!
