The Kiwi is a small flightless bird that is one of the national symbols of
New Zealand.  This is the reason why New Zealanders are often referred to as
Kiwis

Crafar's helmet is actually a representation of the New Zealand flag and not
the Union Jack.  It just so happens that being a former UK colony the New
Zealand flag includes the Union Jack as well as four stars which represent
the Southern Cross constellation.
