[ST] Fuel sender probs/Q's.

Anyone shed some light on a fuel sender problem.

Bought a '99 ST new last summer. Dealer who sold it to me said the Triumph
recall fuel sender work was done. Fuel indicator started acting erratically
a couple weeks later. No hurry to have it fixed - been a minor annoyance
that I'd catch on a future service (original dealer not local and hard to
get to).
Now planning a long distance trip for next month and fuel indicator more a
concern. Went to a local Triumph dealer (not the one who sold it to me) and
asked about getting it done - it's under warranty. He said no problem
BUT...................he wasn't aware of any problems that ST's had w/fuel
indicators other than the recall and the fix for it would be to swap out the
fuel sender tube which is the same proceedure as the fix for the recall for
leaking sender units. (or so he says........)
I'm not sure I buy into this. This is a new (evidently) Triumph dealer and
the service managers plead of no knowledge of probs with fuel indicator
(other than recall for leaking units) is suspect.
Has anyone else had this problem? With an indicator thats gone bad after the
recall work has been done? Would like to know some details. If I had a parts
diagram, I'd be tempted to go in there myself to take a look (I do
maintenance/work on all my other bikes) but I'm lacking same. I'm a little
leery of turning the problem over to (new?) dealer who claims to have never
seen a problem with defective indicators on ST's. Don't wanna get down the
road a few weeks later and discover the problem hasn't been fixed.
