[ST] bc800 mounting location and ramblings

Hey all. I just installed a sigma bc800 on the Sprint yesterday. I
love it. Except for where it is. I put mine on the left handlebar next
to the grip. It works there, but I have to move my head to look down to
see it. I don't like doing this, as it diverts my attention from the
road just a little bit. I'd rather have it somewhere higher, so I can
just glance at it without moving my head.

Has anyone else mounted theirs somewhere higher? I'm tempted to velcro
it right over the stock speedo. :b

Another idea I had was some custom made bracket that would fit under the
lower left hex screw that holds that inside fairing piece. It would
extend out right over the stock spedometer.

Or I had the silly idea of mounting it on the left mirror somewhere.
Run the wire up the inside of the boot. Kinda like having your tach
sticking up out of your hood of your muscle car. Aerodynamic concerns
will probably keep me from relocating it there, though.

Other notes:

I did have to go out and buy a ceramic magnet at RadShack. I just
couldn't get the little one that came with it to pass close enough to
the sensor to trip it. I got a magnet with a hole in the center and
zip-tied it to the rotor carrier. Works great.

Any reason for the page on the bc800 in the faq/acc section say to put
it on the right-hand caliper? I installed mine on the left before I
noticed the page mentioned the right side.

Also, the bike shop I bought mine from didn't have a rear-wheel kit, so
I cut the wire and spliced in a foot or two of speaker wire. Not
elegant, but I soldered the connections and placed the length so that
it's behind the fork and inside the fairing.

Laters,
Brian
