[ST] Track Day notes...

First off, thanks to those who gave me advice on setup for my first track
day. I just got back 30 minutes ago from a full day at Pacific Raceway
(formerly Seattle Intl Speedway) - it's a great 2.4 mile configuration with
twisties and a fairly long straight - and I've learned a number of things:

The ST is even more solid and better than I thought

When the footpeg blobs crunch down in a corner, do NOT go: "holy shit!" and
hit the brakes

Once you've got the above point mastered, it's real fun to grind those blobs
down

I've learned that in the hands of a decent rider (moi) an ST can stomp a
tentative 929 on the track (ok, maybe this 929 pilot was reeeeeaallly slow
but it still felt great passing him on the outside)

I've also learned that in the hands of a better rider, even a Suzuki SV650
will beat the ST (yours truly)

Just because you are in full-wick mode and doing 125mph does not mean an
Aprillia Mille won't come howling past you like you're parked.

All in all, I was blown away by how solid my ST felt and the tires (the old
BT57's) worked great, even if they now look like they've been chewed on by a
Mastiff. I whole-heartedly encourage anyone who has the chance to take your
Sprint out to the track and see what it can do! Even getting on the pegs,
I'm pretty sure I only got to within 80% of what the bike is capable of -
that was good enough for me.

Scott
