I owned both. I sold the AC-10 to the insurance company, and trust my
young'un's head in the CL12. Both are, of course, DOT and SNELL stickered.
Comparing the two, the AC10 is a bit quieter and has better venting. The
removable pads made cleaning less of a chore. The fit of the visor on both
could have been better, and no doubt had a noticeable effect on wind noise.
Visors are interchangeable between the two. Overall, not bad at all for the
price. I've never seen a face that they fit well on, though. They tend to
ride high, above the brow.

Compared to a Z-II, the AC-10 is quieter, but not so well vented. The visor
attachment is simpler and more secure on the Shoei. The chin padding on the
Shoei fits tight to my chin, making speech difficult. The HJC had plenty of
room, albeit with less padding. (It didn't make any difference on
effectiveness, though. Like buttered toast, I face planted at 70 mph and
walked away.)

I wouldn't worry so much about the differences. Just buy her the colors she
wants. The HJC sticker comes off very easily with a heat gun.
