I've also heard of slider causing the bike to flip as they have caught on
grass and such.

I aggree with a log of your logic, and I will add, the body work makes
for an expesive pillow for the frame and engine. I would be worried
about the slider translating the impact directly to the frame and the
engine. Where as the fairing will at least soften the blow.

Could that make the difference bettwen a moving piston scoring the side
wall of a cylinder ?? Could you bend the frame slightly where with out
you wouldn't?
