The Garmin V fits perfectly if you use the RAM Mount system. If you
purchase the diamond base and trim one half off, and drill out the
remaining bolt hole, you can mount it under the gas tank retaining spacer. 
If you recall at the rallye, David Gaske had this set-up using the Garmin
III+ (same package as the V). I copied David's set-up but bought the medium
size stalk as opposed to the small one David had. Either way works. IMO
this is the best way to mount a GPS. Since the RAM system is modular, you
can buy a different base for your Audi and move it back and forth. 

 I can get pics if you want.

The V comes with software that can show street level but only in major
metropolitan areas. You can purchase a separate software package from
Garmin (Map Source?) if you want street level coverage of the whole US.
