I'd recommend a Sierra Design "Clip CD".  Its a 1.5
man tent.  This makes an ideal backpacking and
motorcycle tent, plus they make great products and its
waterproof (great reviews also).  I know they also
make a 1 man tent.  Quick and easy setup! 

For sleeping bags, go with a down bag.  You may not
need it for the type of weather when you camp, but
down compacts really well.
