While I as yet am not a Sprint owner, i hope to be
soon. I had to comment on the "oil issues".

I always use oem filters, I use Rotella oil at
$6 a gallon and I change the oil every 2000 miles
and filter every other change.

The Rotella or Delvac is used by many of my friends in
everything from ST4's to GSXR1100's.
