[ST] 500 mile service - doing it myself?

Yo Dawgs,

My 500 mile service is scheduled for the end of the month but
I have about 600 miles on it and I'm about to go on a 500 trip 
this weekend so I pulled the cowling off and I am looking for
things to check - here is what I found or am doing:

Engine oil and filter - Amzoil 20-50 synthetic

Chain lube and adjust.

The coolant was low at around 100 miles I added distilled water 
To the full mark and it is still there.

Check tension on all hose clamps

The shift connector on the shaft coming out of the engine was loose and
flopping around.

I noticed some oil blotches on my left pants leg at around 250 miles.
I can't find any stray oil around the engine - where else to check?

What other things should I be doing or looking for?
