[ST] Children's Cycle-wear

I need some advice.

I would like to get a protective jacket, like a First-Gear jacket, for my 9 
yr-old son.  I have done a little searching on the internet, and see that some 
places have things available, but I would like to find out if others have 
already been down this path and what you might recommend.  I don't want to buy 
the most expensive, fancy thing out there, but I do want something of decent 
quality.

Anyone have any thoughts?
