This is a wind-up right?
Cast cranks - if they ever existed - would not have stayed the course beyond
the first motorised bicycles (ca 1907)! All current cranks are forged.
The difference is that the Daytona cranks have been shot-peened. This:
- - hardens;
- - stress-relieves;
- - smoothes;
the rod, making it less prone to fracture. I suppose it was deemed an
unnecessary extra expense for the RS/S3/ST... !!
The RS/S3/ST PISTONS, on the other hand, ARE cast, whereas the Daytona's are
forged.
