Hmmm if the front end is "...just standard parts." How does the front wheel
sensor work? Perhaps I'm misinformed but I was under the impression that a
sensor mechanism of some sort is required to detect the motion of the front
wheel. Furthermore I think the sensor has to be located on the unsprung
portion of the front end. Am I missing something? Why do ABS equipped
beemers have that funky looking toothed ring on the rotor assembly. Surely
it is not a zero mass part.

ABS does not added unsprung weight. On all the ABS systems I have seen,
the actual brakes are standard. There is a control box connected in line
with
the brake lines that modulates the pressure. But the caliper & rotors are
just
standard parts.
