I'd have to agree with Joel about the Tiger.
On a long Vermont ride this past summer (Aye, it is passed. boo hoo), I
traded bikes with my friend Mick. His 2002 Tiger really opened my eyes. At
first of course, I had the odd feeling of being perched too high upon the
throne, and wasn't accustomed to having my hands above my waist (I ride an
RS).
Once I got a few miles on it though, WOW. I just couldn't believe how easy
it was to ride this thing FAST. Yes, the soft suspension did have a certain
"floating on air" feel to it, and front tire feedback wasn't there, but I
never felt at all like it was getting loose. It did with it anything I'd do
on my RS, and with a LOT more comfort.
Me? If I could have 2 bikes, I go to the two extremes, a Tiger for touring,
a Daytona for track/sportriding/posing duties. And so my RS is the PRERFECT
compromise for me, for now. I slip on the Sport Panniers and Tank Bag, it's
a tourer. Strip that stuff off, wind up the damping and preload, it's an
apex strafer.
I swore I'd never own a "bagger", but I can clearly see a Tiger with all
three bags in my distant future. And a Daytona 1300. ;)
