[ST] Head Damage update

It's taken me awhile, but I finally got the head off the ST. Really wasn't
all that hard, except the part about finding the time to do it. I lost the
number one spark plug while riding a few weeks ago and am finally getting
around to fixing it.

So far, it looks like I will only have to have the spark plug hole drilled
out and a threaded insert put in. All of the valves appear to be intact and
straight, though I will have someone more experienced that I look at it
before I put everything back together. The liners are smooth and have no
ridge at the top, the exhaust ports are clean and only one intake valve has
any appreciable buildup. This is at 42,000 miles running Mobil 1 full
synthetic.

I still don't know why the spark plug didn't stay where it was supposed to.
The coil was destroyed, so can't test that. I'll be running the bike up to
the nearest dealer after I get it back together for a full diagnostic test
to see if maybe the computer farted. Maybe I didn't get the spark plug full
seated when I replaced them, though it went 6000 miles before melting down.
Could have been a faulty coil or plug, I suppose.

Anyway, the head is off to the machinist and I'm off to order all the
gaskets, etc that I need to put this thing back together. I'm really
starting to get some withdrawal symptoms from being unable to ride the ST.
While I love my R90, with less than half the horsepower and the hinged in
the middle frame, I'm ready to get back on the red rocket!
