One tip I've read that I wish I'd done when installing mine is to wrap
a some sort of insulative tape (electrical, duct, whatever) around
the naked left bar before installing the grip. This supposedly keeps
the metal of the clip-on from absorbing and dissipating the heat.
Not that I ever really noticed a difference in temps between my grips,
but some have reported it.
