Richard,
FYI, Martin is referring to the wacky fuel sender that all RS's and ST's
come with. They make a whiny, howling noise for a second or two when you
first turn on the key. You can read more about it on the list archives at

If you do in fact have the alarm installed, you should be able to find its
control box under the seat somewhere near the rear of the bike, I think.
