Yes, you do have to remove the the bracket on the one side. It only takes a
couple of minutes to do. Might take a little longer to reinstall the
bracket.

Love the new hard bags on my 01 ST but was curious if the lowered exhaust
can is a permanent thing, or if it can be raised when the bags are off. I
haven't looked at it closely but it appears at first glance that you'd have
to remove the entire rail assembly to raise the can back up...?
