I purchased a 2000 1200/4 in BRG. It is about the same power as the ST, but,
it is pushing a few more pounds up the road than a ST. What I really notice
is the torque, which is only a little more than the ST, however, it comes on
much sooner. When I want, I can lug the bike around in low rpm during in
town ventures. It is easier to ride in a civilized manner, when I want to. I
didn't buy the bike to hotrod around so I rarely wick it up with full steam.
On the few occasions that I have accelerated with full throttle, the bike
really picks and goes. It almost feels like it is pulling the front wheel
off the ground. I don't seem to be able to shift it as cleanly as I do the
ST, just a different feel mostly.
I like both bikes and presently I am not willing to give up the Sprint.
However, almost every time I go to the garage to ride, I pick the Trophy.
Now that I have the tire pressure correct and the suspension sag set, I am
rediscovering the Trophy. All the years I have spent racing cars and setting
tire pressure, I can't figure why I overlooked the tire pressure for such a
long time, too much fun riding the bike I suppose. I purchased the bike from
a motorcycle roadracer and assumed the tire pressure was correct.
