price difference come from? i've been considering the
rack/top box option for my rs. it appeared to me from
the triumph website that these were sold separately,
the top rack being part#A9508014, and the top box being
part#A9508004(-color). i thought the st/rs topbox was
the same item.

I can't speak for the RS, but before getting my rack (for my '01 ST) I
considered also getting the top-box.  I don't remember the exact figures
but the top-box kit (which contains the same rack) was close to $500.  The
dealer from whom I bought the rack  (not my usual, very reliable and
knowledgable source, unfortunately) may have been misinformed, but he said
he looked into it and that separate purchases ended up being much more
expensive.  I'd check with yours.
