Technically in California, what is allowed is "lane sharing". A motorcycle
can "share" a lane with another vehicle. Basically at their own risk. Also
technically, the bike must stay completely in the lane shared, including
imaginary vertical walls.

In So Cal, lane-splitting is not specifically prohibited. So you can't get
a ticket for it. However, you can still get ticketed for speeding and
unsafe lane changes. It sure makes my commutes shorter during rush hour.
