[ST] Re: [Off List] Lloyd's bike search, TOA parts, and my bike

This was origional a unicast message from Lloyd, but I figure
the points in return would be of interest to at least a few of the
people on the list

Yes, I would love to see that as well. I personally think it
would not cost them a lot to put the Daytona Motor (147HP) and
suspension on the ST. If they did that it would be a no-brainer.
Hell, I would gladly upgrade the bike. Otherwise assuming the
bike does not get written off the ST should be good for another
50-75,000 miles. It would be cool to put 100,000 miles on a
bike. And with the fact that with 25k miles only one shim has
had to be replaced, by only one size, I am guessing that with a
new rear shock, some fork seals, a couple or 3 new rotors, bunch
of brake pads and a whack of new tires, the '01 should be able
to get there.

So, all things being equal, I guess I can announce a '01 ST for
sale, in '06 or '07, 100,000 miles, decent condition, $2000
bucks OBO? Of course all bets are off if they stop trying to
protect the Daytona and retrofit the ST :-)

As the CBR|YZF|GSX|ZX are being more and more disposable, people
are going to be looking at more durable sporting bikes, we
currently call Sport Tourers. I believe, that the Sport Tourer
market place is going to be really interesting in about 2 years.

I've heard many people suggest that the new super sports are
going to a lot more delicate, and that downs that used to just
call a bit of fairing and maybe an engine cover to be damaged
will now also tweak the frame. Which will cause most bikes to
get totalled. Thus SS insurance rates will sky rocket, and the
more durrable Sport Tourers will become a lot more lucrative.
Anyway, any of the Sport Tourers will walk all over what was a
state of the art SS not but 10 years ago.

Thanks, I will keep the list updated. If TOA comes up with an
OIL pan and front rim in a week, I will through myself on the
mercy of the list for any doubt I shed upon the TOA, dated
09/25/02.
