Hey now wait ONE minute!! What is this bit about a new stablemate, mate??
How about telling your FRIENDS of the NTSR about these kind of things?
Congrats!
Oh, and I run a Valentine V1 also. I use mine in "stealth mount mode", as
it's velcro'd (is that a new verb?) into the map pocket of my Triumph tank
bag. Yes, it's covered by a map, and no, I cannot see the display. Just the
way I want it; eyes only on the road. I let the sounds be my guide. Plus,
it's protected from weather (mostly.)
The advantage is that when I do get stopped (no detector is foolproof,
especially against the increasingly popular instant-on radar and LASER), I
don't get automatic attitude and tickets for obviously trying to beat them.
I get stopped an average of 3 times a year on my bike, but haven't been
convicted of a speeding ticket since 1997. Something about my approach seems
to be working.

I'm using an Escort 7500, with the standard suction cup/ bracket, mounted
about 2" below the top lip of a Zero Gravity ST screen. This position
allows easy viewing of gauges/ operation of controls. It's paid for itself
about 6 times already....
