Re: [ST] communications and loud fuel pumps

Eric, I tried to beat the system on this radio issue and didn't find much
success. I went to Radio Shack and purchased a set of two radios with a vox
setup using a microphone built into the ear speaker. I thought the vox would
not be effected by the wind noise. It failed miserably. I even tried to use
it with the push to talk feature and it didn't work. It seems there is an
incredible amount of noise that infiltrates to the ear canal, even inside
our helmets. I considered having some custom made earplugs made that would
incorporate the radio's ear piece, but I never got around to it. By far, the
chatterbox or Autocom systems are much better than trying to make something
yourself. I use the Autocom and a friend of mine uses the Chatterbox. The
Chatterbox will work and is much less expensive. Autocom can allow the
interface of cell phone, radar detector, music and whatever else you need to
plug in.
